TBT Meets VDay ♥️ My husband’s last flight as an instructor pilot before we PCS’d to Japan 7 years ago. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long. I was still a super green Navy wife, not yet a nurse, my blog was just a few months old, and I was just barely keeping my head above water in our new Navy life together. I didn’t even know I could watch his last flight, and he didn’t think of it until he was taking off. His CO’s wife happened to be at the squadron that day and texted me to see if I was going to be there for the landing. I was at the gym on base, and I scrambled off a treadmill and went straight to this picture. This day was one of my big “a ha” moments in realizing that our community of spouses needs more practical information at our disposal. So, happy Valentines Day to the man who makes me laugh with joy every single day, who is the most caring and loving provider I could have ever hoped to marry, and who still surprises me with his interests and kindness in so many big and small ways. It’s a bonus that he has a really cool job, but I’d have married him if he had a boring one instead. Heck, it would have been easier if he had a boring job! 😂♥️ #flynavy

On my way to my alma mater to pitch a veteran-focused medical research idea. I am a nurse-researcher for the University and for another organization, but these ideas are my own, and they’re BIG. I’m making a big ask, but I’m also going to present my ideas as an opportunity for the University. We military spouses are so well connected and we have access to vast resources that we sometimes don’t even consider because they’re so commonplace to us. I am reminded of @rachelplatten’s Fight Song: “Like a small boat on the ocean, sending big waves into motion ... We attended our first Air Force Party today and had a blast! It can be tough to find a new social group when you arrive at a new duty station, especially when you’re only there for a year or less. Don’t give up. We had a great time today with a bunch of people whose jobs have nothing to do with Naval Aviation or nursing. Stay open to every new person and opportunity, and eventually you’ll meet friends. The Naval Aviation community is super social and lively, so it’s been tough not having that kind of social support these last few months, but we made it. Also, it was fun to tell Air Force guys how much I LOVE the AC-130 Gunship.
