The military pauses for no one.

Well, it happened. Just received word that my husband has been tasked with yet another trip away from home between now and the upcoming deployment. According to my count (which I think is an overestimation), we will now only have 35 – 40 days together before he deploys again, and the days will only occur at short intervals.

We are leaving next week for an extended trip to Hawaii. He’ll leave for his first work-up as soon as we return to Japan.

I can Space A to one of the locations and catch a week with him in a place that I haven’t visited yet, so I am excited about that. Hopefully it works out, but, as we all know, we can’t pin our hope or heart on anything with the military!

If it seems like he just returned home from his last deployment, you’re right. He has been home for less then 2 months.

I’m going to try to keep a positive mind and make every day together count. What truly blows my mind is that we will leave Japan and PCS back to the States soon after this next deployment! What I need to do is focus on MY time here, do the things that I want to do, and make my alone time here count, too. I think that my feeling of time running short will keep me positive and focused, and if I do those things, the time will pass quickly. Plus, I’m already looking forward to seeing my husband at port calls 🙂

Here are a few things on my Japan Bucket List:
Visit Okinawa
Visit the snow festival in Sapporo
Visit Kyoto, the golden pavilion, the silver pavilion, and the park of tori gates
Space A to Guam
Space A to New Zealand
Space A to South Korea
Space A to Alaska
Visit Harajuku and see the cosplay girls
Visit Odawara Castle
Visit Hakone when the flowers bloom
Return to Kamakura when it’s warm
Visit Fuji’s 5 lakes
GO ON OUR HONEYMOON!

  1. I’m slightly jealous of all the traveling you get to do when you visit your husband on his deployment/work-ups! Every time my husband has deployed I’ve never had the option to visit him. They say that being a military spouse you will see the world…I’ve only seen Southern California lol

    1. You just made me laugh! I hear you — these travel opportunities only seems to happen (at least in the Navy) for those of us stationed in Japan. I was just thinking that his comings and goings sound worse then they will be because of all the traveling that I’ll do 🙂 Thanks for pointing out the bright side!
