Reddit makes me happy. Shit your civilian friends say.

Michael is again gone for work, and I’m still quite sick. I tried to do some cleaning and organizing earlier and it made me I feel a lot worse, so right now I’m hanging out online and watching the Hurt Locker – my first time watching. Big Saturday! Maybe later I’ll have a freezer meal. Wohoo! For the moment, the dog is quietly hanging out by herself. Earlier she was a big jerk and peed on the carpet while I was upstairs napping. She’s SO out of the Will.

I found this gem on Reddit today, which was the perfect way to while away an hour or two 🙂

That first gem lead me to this second gem, which addresses men who claim that they are Navy SEALs. Having dated a few, this particular website made me LOL several times.

And, just in case you missed it, here is a video of Shit Civilians Say to Veterans on YouTube. All the “actors” are veterans, and it’s one of my favorite things ever. Someone needs to make a “Shit Civilians Say to Military Wives”, also (new project idea for when I’m in Japan?).

I need to hurry up and get well soon because Michael and I are going on our first mini honeymoon to Key West starting on Wednesday! He’s down there for work right now, so I’ll join him on Wednesday and we’re staying through the following Monday. I’ve started organizing packing a packing list and I ordered a few new bathing suits (we’ll see if I actually like any of them!).

I’ve started organizing things for the move too. My main issue is that I don’t know where to put the various “to go” and “to toss” piles because we are trying to rent the house and people are coming through. I don’t want to scare them away with piles of stuff, but I really don’t know how else to do this. I guess our real estate agent and prospective renters are just going to have to deal with it.

  1. For our move to Okinawa, we dealt with the same issue. As I went through everything, I dropped things off at Goodwill as I organized, so that I didn’t keep that stuff laying around. Then I packed out my spare room closets with stuff that was either going with us or getting put in storage. Finally, I started a massive spreadsheet to keep track of everything I owned and whether it was coming with us in our express or main shipment, going in storage, or going to Goodwill. You didn’t ask for advice, but I just went through that 6 months ago and I remember what a bear it was! Let me know if you have questions, and good luck!

      1. Of course! We brought our dog and cat here, too, and that was the hardest part of the process, so let me know if you need any help with that because the rules are the same for mainland Japan!

  2. Weird/ironic since the other day my husband was talking about the SEAL impostors thing too! He said “Guys that are/were SEALs don’t usually advertise it.” (In response to a Navy SEALs bumper sticker.)

    1. You’re not going to believe this but according to the weatherman, it’s supposed to be nonstop rain the WHOLE time I’m there and it won’t be above 70*!!! I hope it changes between now and then!!!
